What is MasonMUN?

The primary mission of MasonMUN is to foster a dynamic, engaging, and rigorous environment that fully embraces the educational and diplomatic aspects of Model UN, promoting global awareness and civic engagement among its participants.

The conference structure is distinctly characterized by its complete student governance. All committees are meticulously created, organized, and executed by MasonMUN members. The conference typically offers three to four specialized committees, with past examples including:

Luna Sovetskaya: The Red Moon
Lines in the Sand: Carving Up the Ottoman Empire
New York City: War on the Rats

Our Purpose

MasonMUN is strategically designed to shift the focus from the traditional delegate role to an engaging, hands-on experience in the behind-the-scenes operation of a major MUN event.

Leadership Development

The conference serves as a key platform for members to demonstrate and refine their potential leadership skills by taking on executive roles, such as committee chairing and crisis directing.

Commitment Demonstration

Participation in the organization and execution of MasonMUN is a significant metric for members to demonstrate their dedication and commitment to the Mason Model United Nations club.

Organizational Training

It provides invaluable experience in the logistics, preparation, and complex execution required to administer a substantive Model UN simulation successfully.

Substantive Engagement

By empowering students to craft their own committees, the conference ensures a consistent focus on substantive debate and the critical analysis of global policy issues.
