Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is a major Seattle Level One trauma center. After a merger and several devastating tragedies, the hospital nearly collapsed financially. It has recovered; however, it still doesn’t have excess funds. In May 2013, Seattle was hit with its worst superstorm in 20 years. Flooding, damage to powerlines, and hours of traffic left ambulances delayed and the hospital overwhelmed. Grey Sloan Memorial, which normally treats around 325 patients a day, saw over 550 patients in less than 48 hours. The blood bank was destroyed, supplies ran low, and the NICU lost power for hours. Now, one week after the storm, Grey Sloan Memorial must rebuild, restock, and recover while keeping its level one trauma center status. Delegates will need to decide how to manage resources, support staff, and protect the future of the hospital.
From the Chair:
Hello Delegates!
Welcome to MasonMUN VI! My name is Pranavi Kota, and I will be your head chair! I’m a sophomore in high school, and this is my second year doing Model UN. As a delegate, I’ve attended conferences at colleges like Ohio State and Notre Dame, where I learned so much about impromptu speaking and how to be a better writer. I’ve made so many friends and so many memories in Model UN, and it’s always so incredible to see all the different directions committees can go during conferences. Outside of Model UN, I also compete in HOSA (first year) and FBLA (second year), where I competed at FBLA NLCs in California over the summer! I play the viola, and have been for around 4 years now. Ever since I was younger, I’ve loved getting immersed in different shows, from My Little Pony to shows like Manifest and Stranger Things. I started watching Grey’s Anatomy around this time last year just to pass the time, and I got so hooked that I finished every episode of all 21 seasons before school ended. Needless to say, I’m so excited to see all of your incredible ideas and where they take this committee!
We’re so excited to be your staff for Grey’s Anatomy: Chaos After the Storm. We have had so much fun designing this committee, and we hope you love it as much as we do. For committee-specific questions, please email: [email protected]. Good luck!
