The Maze Runner: The Downfall of Denver

Welcome delegates!

I’m your head chair, Akshaj Sai Moola, pleased to introduce The Maze Runner: The Downfall of Denver. My friend Tejas, my Co-chair, and I put a lot of work into bringing a twist to what I would say is one of the biggest masterpieces of dystopian sci-fi. If you haven’t read the books or at least read the movies, I highly recommend you do, not just because of the context you’ll get, but the satisfaction of a good story. This committee closely follows the events of the movies and takes place in the final movie, The Death Cure, where the group of test subjects approaches Denver. Our background guide offers a quick synopsis of the whole series. The twist is, you guys will be the scientists, government officials, and high-ranking leaders who are a part of WICKED, the last standing government agency. The task is to deal with the influx of rebels and test subjects rapidly approaching Denver, the disease outbreak of the Flare, and civil uprisings. I am extremely excited to see how all of you will react to the many threats this world offers.

From the Chair:

What’s up, delegates!

My name is Akshaj Sai Moola, and I am happy to be your head chair for this crisis committee. I’m a sophomore at William Mason High School, and I’ve been doing Model UN since freshman year. Although my time so far in this club has been brief, I’m glad to have had such a great experience in it, making friends and learning. Apart from this club, I’m in varsity cross country, HOSA, and trying my hand at speech and debate. I’m also a big Formula 1 fan, so I’ll be happy to talk about drivers and teams with you. In my spare time, you can find me running somewhere in the streets of Mason, reading books, and playing video games.

The original idea of this committee was meant to be a sort of survival, dystopian story, and the story that stuck out to me the most was The Maze Runner by James Dashner. As someone who considers this series his favorite, including the movies, I thought this was perfect for the vision I saw. But I wanted to put a twist on it, having delegates have the perspective of WICKED. Hopefully, I can share the same joy I found in these books with you guys, and I wish for you to enjoy this difficult scenario.

This was the first committee that I created with the assistance of my Co-chair, so let me know if you guys liked it or not. If you have any questions, send me an email at [email protected].
